The RM of Dufferin 190 and the Village of Bethune are hosting an open house night on Wednesday, February 25, for residents to learn about their property assessments. SAMA will be at the RM building, 101 Railway Ave, from 6:30pm – 8pm, to give a high-level overview on how property assessments are determined. SAMA will not be able to get into the specifics of individual properties, nor industrial assessments. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Village of Bethune is looking to improve water resource management, reduce water loss and streamline billing processes. SaskTel’s Smart Water Meter solution provides an all-encompassing strategy for upgrading the Village’s water management system using cutting-edge technology to automate meter readings, ensuring accuracy, and eliminating manual errors. This automated system will improve safety and optimize operations, significantly decreasing the time and effort needed for data gathering and entry. As a result of these enhancements, you will experience fewer mistakes, more precise billing, and allow the Village staff to concentrate on more essential daily responsibilities. SaskTel’s Smart Water Meter solution provides hourly readings and flags irregular consumption patterns, which the Village can then notify the user of and potentially save hundreds of dollars in water loss.

In the spring/summer, the Village will be coordinating with the residents’ dates and times to install the new device. Stay tuned for more information.

Drinking Water Quality & Compliance Report for 2025

As many of you know, the Village purchases our drinking water from Sask Water. Over the past couple of years, Sask Water has done extensive capital upgrades to their system to keep providing their customers with safe drinking water. Unfortunately, these upgrades come with a cost. The beginning of 2025, Sask Water increased their rates by 13% and in 2026, they will increase by 10%. As a result of these increases, Council passed a bylaw increasing the Village’s rates by approximately 7%. Your average monthly rate will go from $118/month to $126.25/month. Starting in January, the new rates will be: 

MONTHLY WATER RATES:

            4,000 Gallons or Less                        Minimum $103.25 per month

4,001 Gallons to 8,000 Gallons       $27.65 per 1,000 Gallons or part thereof

Over 8,001 Gallons                             $34.45 per 1,000 Gallons or part thereof

Pumphouse-Bulk Water Sales          $32.00 per 1,000 Gallons

$23.00 PER MONTH
